Urban Farming

What is Urban Farming?

Urban Farming is the practice of agriculture in or around cities. It refers to the “practice of cultivating, processing and distributing food.” Some people practice it as leisure while others do so to earn-income. People who grow plants in a community garden are in fact practicing urban farming. Urban Farming, just like community gardens, is practiced on unused land and space. Urban Farming implies both the cultivation of food crops as well as the production of meat. Urban farmers also like to use it as a platform to create and improve communities.

The main goal of urban farming is to create “an abundance of food,” especially for people who are in need.
